Lawrence, Ks. Clinton Lake was built in the late ’70s as part of federal flood control endeavors. The lake is now a popular recreational venue as well as a critical water source for northeastern Kansas. Over 100,000 people rely on the lake for water supply. Like many man-made reservoirs, Clinton Lake is filling in with soil and debris from upstream.

The Kaw Valley Heritage Alliance, many other entities, and landowners are working together to protect and preserve the lake.
